If you continually fall prey to these myths, you’ll not only go about your program incorrectly, but you may actually be doing things that hinder your progress.

You Can Spot Reduce

The first, and probably biggest myth to know is the spot reduction myth. Realize that no matter how many sit-ups you perform, if you still have a thick layer of body fat covering your abs, you are not going to be seeing them.

You can’t lose fat from just the stomach alone. Fat loss will be a full body process, so you have to work at all regions to see results. Crunches are not the route to flat abs in most cases.

Cardio Is Best For Losing Fat

So this may lead you to think that spending hours on the cardio machines is the best bet. Since getting flat abs is about losing fat and cardio machines are designed for fat burning, isn’t this the route to go?

It’s not.

The truth of the matter is that the best method to burn fat is through an intense strength training workout routine. This form of exercise will not only burn calories as you do it, but it’ll also boost your calorie burn for hours after you’ve finished.

The end result?

You transform your body into a fat fighting machine. If you want to see rapid fat loss, strength training is where you should focus your efforts.

Very Low Calorie Diets Are Best

Finally, the last myth that you need to put behind you is that very low calorie diets will yield optimal results. Here again, this is completely wrong.

Very low calorie diets are just going to send your metabolism plummeting and cause you to conserve fat.

If you want your body to release fat, you need to make sure it’s well fed. Sure, you do need to eat less, but you don’t need to starve yourself.

So keep these points in mind. If you want to get results on your belly fat loss plan, do not let yourself fall for these traps.
