21 Day Fix RecipesSo you’ve received your 21 Day Fix package and you’ve read your Food Guide twice (as I recommend to all of my clients), but you’re still at a loss for exactly what you should eat the next week.  If you’re like most people you may be looking for 21 Day Fix Recipes. You know what foods are allowed, because you’ve read them…but you still need help sort of putting it all into action.  Here’s what I recommend, the first thing you should do is make a weekly meal plan.

 

How many calories should I be eating daily?

Use the calorie calculator in the program booklet to determine your appropriate daily caloric intake. After you’ve determined your caloric range, then you know exactly how many of each color container you’re allotted for day.

 

 

Ok so now what…Where do I begin with meal planning?

I typically start by determining what I’ll eat for each meal category day by day. It doesn’t matter if you repeat meals or if you eat the foods out of order. All that matter is that you don’t exceed the number of color-coded containers for the day. What meats will you prepare? What veggies will you prepare? Will you have good carbohydrates, if so start at the top of the list and choose some good ones? Look down the food list and decide what you’d like to prepare?

What would you like for breakfast daily? I rarely eat breakfast without eggs and I’m aware that I’ll need to have 4 red containers for the day, so this is the perfect meal to really get going and establish balance in each meal. I create breakfast with a balance of Red, Green, Purple, Blue and sometimes a Yellow container. This will  ensure that I have the appropriate balance of of all of my macro-nutrients and give me a strong start to the day. Do that for each meal as the day goes on , balance your meals. My dinner portions usually container a balance of protein and veggies. I rarely eat carbohydrates for dinner, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t. Choose high quality carbohydrates, simply don’t exceed the package size.

Can we still have snacks?

What would you like for your snacks? You can easily fill these in. I like to use raw vegetables as snacks for two reasons. It helps you increase your vegetable load for the day, and they’re low in wasteful calories.

Those are the basics. Here are some tips for helping you create your 21 Day fix recipes and meals:

*Create meals with balance, combine red, green, yellow, and blue together often

*Don’t worry about not having enough food, as you can see there’s plenty

*Don’t forget your healthy fats, it’s ok to eat them alone or in combination with other color coded containers

BREAKFAST IDEAS

Chocolate Dream Shakeology

1 packet of Chocolate Shakeology

1/2 cup almond milk

2 ice cubes

1/4 water

Blend for 2 minutes in your blender

1 packet of Strawberry Shakeology

2 strawberries

1/2 cup of almond milk

2 ice cubes

1/4 water

Blend for 2 minutes until creamy, Enjoy!

1 Red Container full of Greek Yogurt (Chobani 100 is prefered)

1/2 Purple container of Fresh Berrries

1 blue container of shaved almonds

*Top with Dark Chocolate slivers (optional)

1 Yellow container or steel cut oats (cook according to package directions)

1 purple container of Fresh Blueberries

As you can see I have my lunch kit ready to go to work. Keep your snack simple..

LUNCH IDEAS

So here’s what’s in my lunch kit for lunch.. I’ll give you the recipe for the Chicken salad

Chicken Salad

Boil 1 pound of chicken breast

Allow it to cool

Combine seasonings (salt, pepper, paprika, Cayenne pepper)

1 teaspoon of relish

1 Tablespoon of greek yogurt or Mayonnaise

Add chopped spinach or cilantro (fun fun!)

1/2 green container of raw Kale

1/2 green container of Mixed Greens and cucumber

1/4 green container of edamame

1 tablespoon of red onion

1 blue container of slivered almonds

1 red container or roasted chicken

DINNER IDEAS

Pot Roast with Vegetable Medley

I really didn’t do anything special for the Pot Roast. I purchased it at the store and in a complete package containing seasonings and then placed it in my slow cooker over night. The next morning I had enough beef for several days. The vegetable medley consisted of zucchini and squash, onions and sweet potatoes that was sauteed with a bit of salt and pepper in coconut oil for about 7-10 minutes.

Turkey Meatloaf with Sweet Potato and Spinach

I typically make Turkey Meatloaf 2-3 times per month. This one was prepared rather quickly with a sweet potato that was portioned and measured using the yellow 21 Day Fix container and added spinach. When it’s time to package, portion using the fix containers.

Turkey Meatloaf

1 pound of turkey meatloaf

1/2 yellow onion

1/4 cup assorted bell peppers

1/4 cup salsa

1 tablespoon of bread crumbs

1 raw egg

mix well top with BBQ sauce (optional)

Bake at 375 F for 45 minutes

Healthy Veggie Tacos!

It’s sometime fun for me to experiment with various recipes, including having one night per week without meat.

So here’s how we made Veggie tacos..

2 Corn Tortillas (warmed)

2 yellow containers of brown rice

2 yellow containers of Black beans

1 green container of fresh spinach and tomatoes

Topped with avocado and cheese

So as you can see it’s entirely possible to eat plenty of foods using the 21 Day Fix system. There are tons of recipes and variations. It’s also possible for you to food prep on Sunday and get ready for 3-4 days at a time without a lot of worry. Plan, prepare cook and get ready for the week. Here’s my final picture to show you how I get this done. There are lots of 21 Day Fix Recipe ideas. Just get creative and keep your foods whole and simple.
